Hi Matthew,

If you click on the image at the bottom of this page, you can download a slide deck which details how you can build the scotch-yoke mechanism using off-the-shelf hardware and woodworking tools. The motor is a windshield wiper motor from a Nissan Altima, but you can use really any wiper motor so long as you adapt the bolt pattern on the sliding yoke plate to fit the motor. You can buy wiper motors online (like this one), or you could check out your local junkyard where there might be thousands.
